Mount Merrion team get on their bikes!

Mount Merrion’s rector, Revd Adrian Green, and his team have just set off on a fundraising bike ride from their parish in Belfast to Mount Merrion Parish in Dublin; a distance of about 122 miles.

All money raised will be split 3 ways:

1. The neo–natal unit at the Ulster Hospital in memory of little Jessica Campbell.

2. No More Traffik; (a charity that seeks to end human trafficking)

3. The building fund (to help cover the costs of urgent structural repairs to the parish premises).

The team pictured left to right are: Lucy Burden, Aaron Boyce, Adrian Green and Joe Green.

Here’s Jessica Campbell’s mum and dad have to say about the neo–natal unit …

“It was in the Neonatal Unit where we got our 1st cuddle with Jessica, its where she was given her 1st Memory Box, its where we captured her 1st hand and foot prints and its where we were given her 1st book to read to her, ‘Before you sleep’.

“Unfortunately the reality is, other parents will find themselves in the same situation as we were in – a situation no parent should have to go through or face, but one that was made that wee bit easier thanks to these precious, precious memories and the excellent staff on the ward.

“Donations will help the ward in many ways, it will get material items such as canvases and paint for memory making. It will also allow the staff (who are worth their weight in gold) to go on additional training courses – 4 of the girls are just back from a 2 day course focused on Child Bereavement and how to support families during what will probably be the most difficult time of their lives, donations would allow even more staff extra, invaluable training like this.”
