Revd Chris Bennett appeals for return of precious sketchbook

Revd Chris Bennett, who runs the Dock Cafe in Titanic Quarter, has appealed in the Belfast Telegraph and on the radio for the return of a stolen ‘sketchbook of memories’ left behind by a tourist.

The sketchbook, put in the safe for safekeeping, was one of the items taken when the Cafe was robbed of all its takings on Monday night.

The enterprise works on the basis of ‘honesty payments’ and many took to Twitter to express outrage at the robbery.

Speaking on BBC Radio’s Good Morning Ulster this morning Chris said:

“When something like this happens but then everyone rallies around you, and gathers to support you, it actually makes you all the more determined, all the more excited about how much fun it is to believe the best in people.

“The money is just money and the stuff is just stuff but that sketchbook is irreplaceable, its really personal and precious to somebody so please, please, anonymously, get it back to us.”

The cafe had to push back its opening on Tuesday morning to allow the PSNI to carry out an inspection of the burgled property but is very much open for business again.
