Celebration as kids and leaders are baptised in Willowfield

On the second Sunday in June, three children and four of the children’s team said a big, public yes to Jesus by choosing to be baptised during the June Family Service at Willowfield.

All three of the girls baptised have come to faith in the recent years through the children’s programmes here at Willowfield and had not been christened as children. Over the past few weeks, the girls have been discussing baptism as a topic in Kids Church and encouraged a few of their adult leaders into joining them by their infectious enthusiasm, maturity and willingness to follow God.

Kayleigh (aged 10) says, “I wanted to be baptised to publicly wash all of my sins away and become more like Jesus!” Kayleigh became a Christian through the Friday Night Kids Klub programme, something which her mum Karen credits as being a massive influence in her daughter’s faith. “I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to the children’s workers for the amount of encouragement and teaching they give to the kids. What a lovely way for Kayleigh to come to the end of her time with Willowfield Kids, as she moves onto Youth in September, by being baptised alongside her church family who help, love, support and her encourage her with her walk with God.”

Abigail (aged 8) and Samara (aged 8) are both heavily invested in Willowfield by attending programmes, delivering talks to other children, speaking from the front of church, and encouraging each other as young followers. All of the leaders baptised are involved in Kids Church, Kids Klub, Unleash and Squad Goals.

Charlene, one of the Children’s Workers from Willowfield, who was baptised on Sunday says “It’s a real joy to see these kids, some of whom I’ve known from they were in nursery, stand up and be boldly declaring who Jesus is in their lives, and who strive to show it every day. As a children’s worker, seeing children really take such ownership of their own faith story is incredibly powerful. Plus they managed to talk four shy grownups into doing it with them and accepted no excuses!”

“We are absolutely blessed by fierce children who stand up as warriors in this community. They set an example not only for other kids, but for adults too.”
