Community spirit strong in Rostrevor

After after the unfortunate vandalism to the Community Clock on St Bronach’s Church, Rostrevor, the people of the parish have had huge support from the community.

The damage was assessed by the makers and maintainers of the clock (Smith from Derby) and it’s hoped firstly, that there is no damage to the mechanism and, secondly, that the repair can be done at a reasonable cost.

With the scaffolding still up, the indefatigable Shelagh Roberts from the church got to work restoring the outer dial and rose embellishments.

Sincere thanks to Gerry Flynn who joined Shelagh in the repainting.

(The clock was upgraded and is maintained by Newry and Mourne District Council)
