About Us

The Present

The Church of the Ascension is a vibrant Anglican Parish Church. We welcome all from the area and beyond to worship with us. We meet together both in Church on Sundays and at activities in the Parochial Hall during the week to worship and pray together and to enjoy each others’ company. A devoted and dedicated congregation worships in Magherahamlet Parish Church. Membership of the Parish comes from the local community in Magherahamlet, Spa and neighbouring areas. The Parochial organisations at present consist of a vibrant Sunday School and an enthusiastic Mothers’ Union Branch. Local community relations are close.

The Future

The Parish hopes to deepen its fellowship in the church through a Men’s Breakfast and by attracting a greater number of people to have coffee after services. It would like to broaden its worship through the introduction of a service for, and led by young people. – It would like to begin an evening Study Group and run an Alpha (or similar) course. – It also hopes to hold more social events including a musical extravaganza and a pantomime. Magherahamlet Parish has identified the need to develop its building facilities and is about to embark on building a new parochial hall. Once in place, a new hall would provide a venue for young people, a place to hold refreshments after Church Services and could also be used by a potential Parents and Toddlers Group.
