St. Columba’s Knock is a warm, friendly church which in true Anglican tradition lays equal emphasis on both Word and Sacrament. We have a good musical tradition which includes a robed choir and a modern music group. This enables us to cater for all ages and to use a variety of liturgical form. Children form a very important part of our congregation staying in church for the whole of the family service on the first Sunday of the month. On other Sundays they come to church and leave for Sunday School after the childrens address. During the week our activities include a thriving Mother and Toddler Group, Youth Organisations, Young Families Group, Bible Study Group, Men’s Club, Mother’s Union, Ladies Guild, Art Club, Railway & Model Club, Badminton Clubs, Craft & Hobby Circle, Bowling Groups and an Afternoon Group for Senior Citizens including Mini Holiday Breaks.
St. Columba’s has developed from a rather formal and traditional congregation, and we would hope to continue that development. There is room for our Bible Study Group to grow in numbers so that more of our people would grow in the faith. We would also like to see worship as an absolute priority every Sunday. If this were the case, our congregations would double. We are trying to reach out to all age groups, in particular those in their late teens and early twenties. We have made some progress and we continue to press forward.
