About

Our three churches are caring Christian fellowships proclaiming God’s love to one another and to the communities we serve.  We gather for worship each week in two of the buildings (except on a fifth Sunday when we unite for one celebration.  We also provide a live service of Compline on Facebook each Sunday evening at 9.00 pm.

There are many occasions for people of all ages to enjoy fun and fellowship, in addition to learning a new skill or growing in faith and commitment.  Both parishes are active on Facebook and up–to–date information may be found there and in the current edition of the parish magazine, The Pointer.

Clonallon and Warrenpoint gather for worship on alternate Sundays at 10.00 am, first and third in Warrenpoint and second and fourth in Clonallon.  Worship is accompanied by the church organ in each building and, from time to time, The Anglican Ensemble (orchestra) plays in the services.   There is an extensive and interesting graveyard surrounding the ancient church at Clonallon.  The Parish Hall is located in Warrenpoint and is used both by parishioners and also community groups and organisations.  Weekday activities include badminton, choir practice, and a Ladies Bible Study group.  Parishioners are active in a number of shared activities including the ladies guild.  There is community involvement, and the revival of the annual town carol service has proved to be a great success.

Kilbroney, Saint Bronach’s, Rostrevor is a growing congregation where church and community are inter–woven and strong and constructive bonds with all local churches, schools, and organisations have been built. The village Christmas pageant and carol services plus the Fiddlers Green Festival are among the many opportunities for faith sharing in the district. Singing is usually led by the organ in Saint Bronach’s and from time to time the Kilbroney Handbellers and the Praise Band also participate.  Worship is conducted each Sunday at 11.30 am, there is a Sunday School (Explorers) which meets at the same time, and refreshments are served each week after the service.  200 years of worship in the building was marked by nine months of special events in 2022 as well as the publication of a major history of the parish.  During the week there are a number of activities including: choir practice, crafters, confirmation class, handbell practice, ladies guild, prayer group, prison fellowship, and tower bells which both practice on Thursdays and also ring on Sunday mornings.

There are many opportunities for service in our churches, including coffee and tea rotas, flower arranging, and church cleaning; and there are frequent opportunities for outreach from three buildings that are rich in stories of lives and loves, triumphs and achievements, despair and hope, and prayers and peace.

The Kilbroney Centre

The former Kilbroney vicarage is now part of The Kilbroney Centre, a nine acre site, which provides a Christian residential experience for many young folk from the Diocese and beyond; and is also the location for the annual parish barbecue and open air service with parish picnic.  The Centre has its own board of management on which there are some representatives from Kilbroney Parish Church.

Knotty Ash Cemetery

This is situated on Forestbrook Road and was consecrated in 1877 to take the place of the graveyard at The Crag, Saint Paul’s, which was crowded and no longer suitable for burials.   While Knotty Ash is now full, there are family plots still in use, and a Garden of Remembrance is provided for ashes to be interred.  The cemetery is maintained through annual subscriptions from families, and others, organised through the Select Vestry of Kilbroney Parish Church.
