Niger Emergency : Bishop's Appeal

On behalf of the Church of Ireland Bishops’ Appeal, we are appealing to members of the Church of Ireland to help in the alleviation of a major emergency that is devastating the people of Niger. Although the catastrophe has been forecast for some considerable time, it is only now that the full extent of the disaster has forced itself on the attention of the world community. Food, water and medicine are the principal needs. The problems are compounded by the fact that Niger has a very poorly developed infrastructure, making it all the more difficult to get emergency supplies to the points of need.

Bishops’ Appeal has forwarded an initial emergency donation of £10,000 Sterling and €10,000 to Churches Acting Together, but it is clear that much more will be needed.

Any donations to Bishops’ Appeal for the Niger emergency can be sent to Bishops’ Appeal through Church of Ireland House, 61-67 Donegall Street, Belfast BT1 2QH, or Church of Ireland House, Church Avenue, Rathmines, Dublin 6.

Please mark emergency donations “Niger Appeal”.

We are most grateful for your continued support.
