Dioceses get together for Confirmation Weekend

A weekend residential programme for young people, who are preparing for confirmation during the next few months, has been organised by Andrew Brannigan, the Down and Dromore Diocesan Youth Development Officer. The young people and their leaders are joining together with a similar group from Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh diocese for a weekend of indoor and outdoor activities and of learning what confirmation is all about.

Andrew has been running the confirmation programme for several years and sees it as a great opportunity for young people to develop their relationship with Christ and the church and to start the process of becoming a disciple in Christ’s church.

The weekend aims to:

• Help young people understand the different aspects of confirmation in a new and vibrant way.

• Help them to see their role in the church and why they need it

• Using fellowship, discussion, worship and fun to enthuse and challenge

• Explore opportunities to grow further in their faith.

The Confirmation Weekend is taking place from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th of February at the Share Centre, Lisnaskea where the young people from both dioceses will not only be learning what confirmation is about, but will be having fun enjoying activities such as sailing, indoor climbing, football, canoeing, archery, karting, t-shirt printing, and pottery .
