Change of mindset needed in young drivers

Archdeacon Gregor McCamley conducted the tragic funeral of the twins who were killed in a car crash on Easter Saturday. Marc and Wayne Wallace (19), along with David Campbell (18) died in the car they were travelling in when it hit a tree on the Ballygowan Road. The funeral of Marc and Wayne took place at St Columba's Knock on Thursday 20 April.

The archdeacon appealed to all young people to change the way in which they drive. 'Young people think they are invincible' he said 'They bolster that up by thinking that "when your number's up, your number's up", but they don't think it will happen to them. Gregor McCamley also mentioned the fact that his own son had been left brain-damaged after an accident at the age of 16.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the three young men who died, and indeed with all those whose lives have been changed for ever because of traffic accidents. Nine people were killed in Northern Ireland alone during the Easter period, and 42 so far in 2006.
