Every year, since the start of the new millenum, Down and Dromore has been represented at the annual convention of our link diocese of Albany. The main party travelling to this year’s convention left on Thursday 8 June and included the Archdeacon of Dromore, the Venerable John Scott. During the convention Bishop Dan Herzog will be ordaining a record number of Ordinands to the Diaconate (4 transitional and 11 vocational) and Bishop Harold have been invited to be the preacher at the ordination service.

Another member of the group going to Albany for the first time is the Rev Adrian McCartney from Wells church, who has been invited to lead a convention workshop on ‘Church Planting’. Canon Cecil Wilson (a regular at the convention) and David Gough from CMSI will also present a workshop on ‘Making Mission Work’.

Other workshops on offer include ‘Podcasting for Outreach & Evangelism’; ‘Pebbles, Knots, Beads and Prayer’; Bible Images in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘The Diocese of Albany at the Movies: The Da Vinci Code Revisited’.

This convention will also be the first major assembly in the Episcopal diocese of Albany for the new bishop-elect, Father Bill Love.
