Global Day of Prayer on Pentecost Sunday

The Stormont Estate is the venue for the second Global Day of Prayer being held on Sunday 4th June, which is Pentecost Sunday. This year’s event gets under way at 3.00pm with a finish time expected around 5.30pm.

Some of our parishes in Down & Dromore are setting off for Stormont immediately their morning services finish and having a parish picnic in the grounds before the event gets under way.

Last year around 12,000 Christian from many different churches and denominations all over Ireland converged on Stormont to pray together, uniting with an estimated 200 million other Christian across the world. This represented some 156 countries and was the biggest prayer gathering in history.

There is an amazing movement of prayer around the globe and there will be a Global Day of Prayer on Pentecost Sunday for the next 5 years. The date in 2007 will be Sunday 27th May.
