Heard about the Bishop's BBQ?

The end of June arrives and for many young people nine weeks of boredom stretch ahead. But for nearly 4,000 of them the books and uniforms were discarded and all thoughts of course work and essays forgotten while they got their camping gear together and converged on the Kings Hall for the annual Summer Madness festival.  This year the festival was fully booked and many had to be content with being ‘day’ visitors. The festival attracted top names from the Christian music scene and lively debates, teaching and dynamic worship were the order of the day.  The first Summer Madness was held back in 1987 at Castle Archdale Country Park.  Festival goers this year came from all sections of the community with some from as far afield as Brazil and South Africa.

For young people from Down & Dromore diocese camping in the Paddock area at the King’s Hall the Bishop’s annual BBQ bash was something not to be missed!  Bishop Harold invited all the young people camping out at the festival from his diocese along to enjoy some great food, fellowship and fun.  For many of the 15 to 24 years olds it was an opportunity to meet others from neighbouring churches, make new friendships and renew old ones.

A local radio station presented its Sunday morning programme from Summer Madness at the King’s Hall and featured some of the music interspaced with interviews with some of the international speakers and musicians.  If you weren’t able to get along to this year’s Summer Madness the SM Worship Album will be released in September 2006.  The talks, seminars and main stage speakers will be featured in Total Recall 2006.  See Summer Madness website: www.summermadness.co.uk for more information.
