Off to Sudan

For many years, the Diocese of Albany along with the Diocese of Down & Dromore has been linked with Maridi Diocese in Southern Sudan.  One of the fascinating results of this is to go to Maridi and see the way in which the community has been built up through the link: classrooms, vehicles, bicycles, the Bible College, the health centre and even spectacles, have been put in place over the years, and helped to transform the diocese.

On 28 August, a small team consisting of Jane Corbett from Dromore, Kevin Steckline from Albany, and David Gough of CMSI set out for Southern Sudan.  Their task is both to show our love and care and to update all of us on the present situation, not least with regard to the Sudanese ‘peace process'.  They will also be helping in the planning of health clinics to be set up in several key areas of Southern Sudan, under the direction of another famous Ulsterman, Dr Ian Clarke, who is based in Kampala.

Please keep them in your prayers.  A full report will be available when they return.
