Fair Trade Tour 2006

Gareth Davies-Jones, who attracted a large following at this year's Summer Madness, is returning to Northern Ireland in October to play at three different venues during his Fair Trade 2006 tour.   Gareth, who has two albums under his belt, writes the lyrics and music for his own songs and is classed as a folk/roots artist with a protest edge and spiritual grit. Likened to Martyn Joseph and David Gray his songs question, challenge and hope for a better deal.

Gareth is 100% committed to fair trade and its principles.  This comes through in his music and his forthcoming tour will reflect this and be sure to challenge and stimulate. He is also passionate about other issues, such as faith, justice and street children and is concerned that one of the biggest problems facing us in the west today is apathy.  Speaking about his concerns in a recent interview he said: ‘Everyone claims to care - but few actually do anything about it. If my music can shake some folks out of their apathy - then something has been achieved.'  In the same interview he said that he likes his venues to have an acoustic café feel and encourages the event organisers to lay out tables with tea lights and have a Fair Trade coffee bar.

The three venues for Gareth's concerts, where he will be performing alongside fellow singer/songwriter Rob Halligan, are:

18 October      Richill Methodist Church

19 October      St Comgall's Church, Bangor

20 October      Emmanuel Church, Lurgan.
