For he's a really good Fellow

Heartiest congratulations to Bishop Edward Darling, the former Bishop of Limerick who retired into the diocese of Down & Dromore in 2000, who has become an Honorary Fellow of the Guild of Church Musicians.  The honour was conferred on Bishop Ned by the Archbishop of Canterbury, who is a Patron of the Guild, at a ceremony in Lambeth Palace.  This is the highest honour which the Guild can bestow.  Bishop Ned's citation said: ‘for the outstanding contribution in the field of Church music and liturgy over many years, particularly in the Church of  Ireland.  Bishop Desmond Tutu was also made an Honorary Fellow at the same ceremony.

The Guild encourages all amateur and professional musicians within the church to reach the highest standard of music in the worship of Almighty God and has an interdenominational and international membership.  Archbishop Robin Eames became one of the first Honorary Fellows of the Guild in 1988.
