Primate receives Award for Outstanding Service

The Diocese of Down and Dromore sends its warm congratulations to Archbishop Robin Eames on receiving the Archbishop of Canterbury's Award for Outstanding Service to the Anglican Communion.  Archbishop Eames served in his early ministry in three parishes in Down and Dromore and was also bishop of the diocese from 1980-1986.

The Bishop of Down commented: ‘It was a most moving moment in the Thanksgiving Service in Armagh Cathedral, when Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury) presented Robin Eames with the award.  There was both a real sense of the Church of Ireland basking in the reflected glory of such a key Christian leader, and a real sense of the rightness of awarding an archbishop with this highest possible accolade for his service to the Communion.'
