Bishop Harold's statement following the death of David Ervine
Following the announcement of the death of David Ervine, Bishop Harold made the following statement:
"I was deeply saddened to hear today of the death of David Ervine and extend my deepest sympathy to those nearest and dearest to him.
David was, in my experience, a politician of independent thought and courage. He was very much a product of Protestant Ulster, but was prepared to speak out on behalf of the Protestant community as it moved forwards into a new future.
He will be greatly missed, not only in East Belfast, but throughout this country by people of all political and religious persuasions."
