"Tried and Tested Youth games" Book Launched

Down and Dromore Youth Council have just launched a youth games book specifically designed for youth leaders to use in a parish context.  The Youth Officer for the diocese, Andrew Brannigan (who compiled the book along with Peter Hilton from St. Finnian’s Parish) commented that:

“For many years in youth work one of the central resource problems was that there were too few books on youth games and activities.  Now the opposite is the case!  A youth leader now is confronted with scores of games books, sometimes offering over 1000 different games for a youth group.  Therefore the problem is often that there are just too many different games ideas out there for a youth leader to find a good one and often when they do the game is designed for a much different context.

This new DDYC games book is designed for youth leaders who don’t have a great deal of preparation time and need games that work in a parish context.  It contains 180 games and activities that have been tried and tested and worked!  It is split into 8 sections and includes games for small groups, large groups, games that are short, and of course, games that need no preparation time!”

The new book is also pocket sized and is designed to fold back on itself for ease of use.

A copy has already been sent to each parish in the diocese but extra ones can be obtained from the Youth Office for £3 each.  Contact Andrew on 9024 0316 if you would like to order any.
