Down to Earth faith put into action!
Faith can seem a hard thing to have - life with all its questions can leave us numb to even believe in anything.
On the weekend 4th - 7th October, St Patrick's and St Mary's invite you to a series of special events to help people find faith, or grow their faith, in God. Roger Murphy, an experienced Christian who is easy to understand, has been asked to return to Newry and share his faith with us.
There are many ground-breaking events organised, but perhaps the most daring part of the weekend is the abseil on Saturday 6th from the tower of St Mary's Church, Hill Street. Beginning at 10:30am, Rev Kingsley Sutton, along with forty other brave souls, will be stepping over the edge to descend the near 100ft tower- Down to earth faith put into action!
Fr Andrew McMahon has also volunteered to make the descent, along television and radio presenter Rowan Hand. The Lord Major of Newry, councillor Michael Cole will also attend this sponsored event which will help provide a new crèche and welcome area inside St Mary's church.
With a carnival atmosphere for all, children will be most welcome to come and enjoy the free bouncy castle- and they might even get to see Spiderman who will be making an appearance. New Dawn band will be playing live music, and along with free tea/coffee, there will be an opportunity for people to receive prayer for healing and hear Roger Murphy.

Thursday 4th Ladies' Pamper me night- 8pm Scriptural School, Downshire Rd.
Friday 5th Senior Citizens' Event: 2pm Tour of Bagnal Castle with afternoon tea in the Banqueting Hall
All age Magic Show with Paul Ormonde- 7pm Scriptural School.
Saturday 6th Men's Breakfast at Bellini's 8am (tickets available)
10:30am onwards Abseil from St Mary's Tower
7:30pm Harvest Supper in the Scriptural School (tickets available)
Sunday 7th Church services are all together in St Patrick's Church, Stream Street
8:30am Holy Communion
11:30am Main Harvest Service
7:00pm Harvest Praise service with prayers for healing
