Willie comes home to Down & Dromore

The Revd Willie Nixon, former curate of Hillsborough Parish, is coming home.  He and his family will be returning in February 2008 when Willie takes up his new post as rector of Killaney and Carryduff.  The vacancy in Killaney and Carryduff arose when the Revd John Auchmuty moved to Belfast when he became Rector of St Columba's, Knock.

The whole Nixon family - Willie, his wife Caz, children Anna, Alice and Sam, and Polly the dog - are really looking forward to returning to Down & Dromore.

Speaking after his appointment had been announced Willie said:

‘In 2005 when we were appointed to Emmanuel Church in Edinburgh we never thought that God would bring us back to Down and Dromore so quickly! Once again God's plans and purposes amaze us. We look forward to the encouragement and prayers of our friends in Down and Dromore when we come home in February. As we prepare to celebrate Christmas in Edinburgh, we are very excited about coming to work with the people of Killaney and Carryduff, and look forward to seeing God's heart of love made known as we share in the work of the Gospel with both congregations. Our prayer is that Jesus will be honoured in all we undertake in his name, as we journey on this new path of ministry. We are thankful to the Lord for this door opening and believe, that in his strength, great things lie ahead for both ourselves and those he is calling to work with us to his praise and glory.'

The Institution service for the new rector of Killaney and Carryduff will take place in Carryduff on Friday 15th February at 8.00pm.
