2008 Dean's Travel Awards

Each year the Dean of Down, the Very Revd Henry Hull, is able to provide grants from the Dean's Travel Awards to young people (aged 18 to 25) engaging in GAP Year and short term mission projects.

The Dean recently presented awards to three of the young people who were successful in being awarded grants - Laura Galway, (Youth work in Tenerife) Amy Achara (helping in an orphanage in Zambia) and Valerie Shaw (Northern Argentina). The Dean was this year able to make awards to 16 young people who are engaging in projects in Brazil, Argentina, Zambia, Uganda, Tenerife, India, Egypt and Nepal.

The scheme was established in 2005 following the St Patrick's Day ‘Global Vision' celebrations.
