Marlene steps down from WWDP National Committee

Marlene Moore, who is a Diocesan Reader in the diocese of Down & Dromore, has served on the National Committee of WWDP (Women's World Day of Prayer) for the past 14 years.  She has recently made the decision to step down from the organisation in September.

During her time with WWDP Marlene has held the offices of Chairperson, Vice President and President.  She said of her pending retirement: "I have been deeply privileged and I am conscious of the unique opportunity I have had to meet wonderful people and to engage in challenging and exciting experiences."  When asked what she would be doing with her spare  time Marlene simply quoted Psalm 31:14: ‘But I am trusting you, O LORD, saying, "You are my God!"  My future is in your hands''

In paying tribute to Marlene, Emma Wilcock who is the current WWDP President, said that Marlene's expertise would be greatly missed, as would her efficiency, understanding, gentleness and sensitivity.

Women's World Day of Prayer is a global, ecumenical movement of informed prayer and prayerful action, organised and led by Christian women who call the faithful together on the first Friday in March each year to observe a common day of prayer and who, in many countries, have a continuing relationship in prayer and service

The origins of Women's World Day of Prayer date back to the 19th century when Christian women in the USA and Canada initiated a variety of cooperative activities in support of women's involvement in mission, at home and abroad.
