Building with Habitat for Humanity

A team of 10 people from the Parishes of Killaney and Carryduff have just returned from a Habitat for Humanity building team in Hungary. The group spent a week from Saturday 6th to Saturday 13th September in the country building to provide decent shelter for as many individuals as possible.

The work in Hungary places a special emphasis on families with more than one child. As well as building simple, decent homes, Habitat also works to support family care and community-building projects so as to improve the lives of homeowner families for the long term.

The Revd Willie Nixon, who was on the team says "I can't believe that within three weeks of being here I was able to invite people to join me on this team and had 9 volunteers - God is good - amazingly we only needed to raise £1,000 per head, but have far exceeded that total, raising £16,000 for Habitat for Humanity Hungary - I'm encouraged that the Gospel is bearing fruit - Amen!"
