Curate delivers Annual RVH Oration

The Revd Dr Rory Corbett, Non-Stipendiary Curate in the Parish of Donaghcloney and Waringstown gave the Annual Oration for the 2008/2009 Session at the Royal Victoria Hospital on Wednesday 1st October. Dr CorbettĀ is a Consultant Dermatologist in the RVH and his address was entitled "Beauty is ......."

Undergraduate clinical teaching in Belfast commenced in 1821 in the Belfast Fever Hospital, forerunner of today's Royal. In 1827, the Medical Attendants of the Fever Hospital decided that there should be an opening address to the clinical students bu a senior clinician at the beginning of the Autumn Term.

Their successors, the Consultant Staff of the Royal, continue this tradition 181 years on. The openign address held on 1st October was to welcome new Clinical Students, particularly Queen's University Third Year Students who are beginning full time clinical study this Autumn.
