The Shankill Maestro!
Carl McCambley, Musical Director of Shankill Parish, Lurgan, has for the second time displayed his considerable skill as a choral director. He and colleague Jean Glass have just led the choir of Waringstown Primary School to the title of Songs of Praise Junior School Choir of the Year 2009. The choir also won the title in 2004. The 45 strong choir sang two pieces – Breathe on me Breath of God and The Rainbow Song beating competitors Clayton CE Primary School from Bradford and Southfields Junior School from Peterborough.
Principal Gary Kennedy said, “I am indebted to the music teachers Jean Glass and Carl McCambley – they are just exceptional teachers of choral music.
