Welcome to the Diocese of Down and Dromore

Down and Dromore is one of twelve dioceses in the Church of Ireland, which is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. It contains about a third of the City of Belfast in Northern Ireland, the whole of Co Down and part of Co Armagh. It is the 2nd largest in the Church of Ireland in terms of church population with around 91,000 people.

It was in this diocese that St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, founded his first church and found his final resting place. It was also from this diocese that many of the saints of the sixth century travelled to a dark Europe with the faith of the Gospel.

It is our prayer that, under the leadership of our Bishop, The Right Revd Harold Miller, we will continue to bring the light of Christ into the communities where God has placed us.
