Global Day of Prayer 09

This Sunday, 31st May, is Pentecost Sunday. Around the world Christians will unite in prayer and you can participate by joining an event in your area. Click here to find out what's happening around the province.

The vision of GDOP is to mobilise Christians around our world to pray from Ascension Day to Pentecost Sunday (10 days), unite with other believers on Pentecost Sunday (1 day) and to be people who share the good news with others in mission (90 days).

Since the Global day of Prayer began in 2005, Christians across the British Isles have taken part in both large and small events across our nations. In 2008 in the British Isles, around 60 events took place in Cathedrals, churches, open air parks, on hills, up cranes, at city gates, in smaller football stadiums, at Millwall stadium in London... and many more venues. Many events participated in the 10 days of prayer! In Northern Ireland there were 15 places participating.

Across the world, 214 nations linked in with the vision in 2008 and all 220 nations will be represented in 2009.

In this time of global shaking, it is important for God's people around the world to call on the name of the Lord as outlined in 2 Chronicles 7:14 which is a foundation scripture in the GDOP movement...

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
