Institution at Shankill, Lurgan

A joyful service of institution took place on 24th June as Rev Geoff Wison became the new Rector of Shankill Parish, Lurgan.

Bishop Harold instituted Geoff before a large congragation of parishioners, family, friends and supporters from Co Cavan. The preacher at the service was Rev John McCammon who spoke powerfully on John 15 and what it means to be fruitful as individuals and as a church. The music was led by Carl McCambley with the choir and music group.

Geoff, 46, was born in Newtownards but grew up in the parish of Mullavilly. He was ordained in 2004 and became curate of Swanlinbar, Co. Cavan, in the diocese of Kilmore. Two years later he was appointed rector with the additional responsibility of Kildallon.

Before ordination Geoff was a public servant for seventeen years and since 1987 has been happily married to Naomi. They have three children - Bethany, Jack and Sam.

We as a diocese wish them every blessing in their new calling.
