Rev Kevin Graham instituted in Movilla

Rev Kevin Graham has been instituted by Bishop Harold as the new rector of Movilla, Newtownards. The preacher on Friday 25th September was the Methodist chaplain at Queens, Rev John Alderdice, formerly the Methodist minister at Movilla.

Kevin was ordained in 2002 and served his curacy in St Columba's, Knock. In 2005 he became rector of Carrowdore and Millisle and in September 2008 became Area Dean for Ards. Kevin is a recent graduate of the Arrow leadership Training Course. He replaces Rev Canon Ken Higgins who was instituted in St Donard's, East Belfast, on 23rd April.

Movilla Abbey is unique in that Anglican and Methodists share the building together and much of the worship is joint. They have a joined ministry to the young people of the area with all the usual youth organisations and also employ a full time youth and family worker, Colin McMordie, who co-ordinates a full youth programme.

The present Methodist minister at Movilla is Rev Paul Gallucci and during the service Paul and Graham shared both the Methodist covenant Prayer and the Peace. To conclude, Bishop Harold and the Methodist District Superintendent, Rev Roy Cooper, jointly gave the blessing.
