24-40 Prayer arrives in Mourne

Area Dean of Clanbrassil, Rev Gareth Harron, has handed the baton of 24-40 Prayer to Mourne Deanery. Rev Ken McGrath, rector of Kilkeel, accepted the 'Big Prayer Book' and banner to begin the next leg of the vigil.

Bishop Harold has written a short liturgy for the handover in which the recipient says:

"We gladly accept this time of prayer entrusted to us as our duty and our joy, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

You can read the liturgy in full here.

And so with joy, Kilkeel began with corporate prayer, since the start of their shift coincided with the midweek meeting. The choir room has become the prayer room for 36 hours until 24-40 Prayer moves within the Mourne Deanery to Rathfriland (Drumgath, Drumballyroney, Clonduff & Drumgooland). The room contains plenty of help with praying for the community, the church and the world and the churches are also finding that their prayer rooms have become places of ministry.
