Charities Registration & Compliance Information Evening, Belfast
The Representative Church Body invited Rectors and Treasurers in the Dioceses of Down & Dromore and Connor to a briefing for parishes on the new Charities Law in Northern Ireland at the Ramada Hotel at Shaw's Bridge, Belfast on Tuesday 20 October 2009.
The speakers from the RCB were Mrs Janet Maxwell and Mr Adrian Clements and the guest speaker was Mr Seamus Murray, Head of Secretariat - Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. Mrs June Butler, the new Diocesan Secretary for Down, Dromore and Connor, welcomed a large number of people to the information evening.
Mr Murray from the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland helpfully explained the new regulation of charities for Northern Ireland at the outset of the session, which was followed by presentations from the representatives of the Representative Church Body on issues of registration, structure and accounting, and providing an overview of how it will work, timescales and resources being made available to help.
A further information evening in Connor Diocese is to be held at The Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim on 9th November at 7.00 p.m.
