Huge amount pledged at St Elizabeth's Gift Day

Parishioners of St Elizabeth's, Dundonald, pledged and gave the amazing sum of £444,900 at their recent Gift Day.

The Gift Day on Sunday 4th October, was the launch event in the 'Building for the Gospel' project and Bishop Harold preached at the service. This is the first phase of fundraising that has the sum of £2.4 million as its final target.

'Building for the Gospel' came about after a review of the church properties and their suitablility for the church's mission in the 21st Century. By 2014 the parish hopes to have a new, flexible, comfortable and welcoming building with all facilities under one roof.

In June 2009, the Rector, Rev Tim Anderson, wrote to the parish: “The proposal of a new Church Centre with halls, rooms, office, kitchen and a main meeting area will greatly assist us in being faithful to Jesus Christ’s commission to His church. Jesus asks us to go and make disciples of all nations and we need to be as effective as we can in doing this. The heart of this project therefore is the Gospel, not the buildings. So I want to assure you that, whatever level of support you are able to give to this initiative will be for the growth of God’s Church and ultimately for His glory. It will be an investment with dividends and returns that will last into eternity!”

It's been an encouraging start to the journey of faith embarked upon by the clergy, vestry and parishioners of St Elizabeth's.

"We are thrilled by what God has done, says Rev Tim, and tremendously thankful. We continue to pray about the road ahead and ask that God will give us boldness and perserverance in the task."
