Yes! Saintfield Parish can!
Rev Chris Pollock writes about the recent successful mission in Saintfield Parish which lasted for 9 days and included 35 different ‘not to be missed' events.
"Wow! What a week! Yes! We Can and God Can! "How amazing", as the song says, "it is no secret what God can do" and He did it in Saintfield during our mission.
When we set out on our journey which seems a long time ago now, our prayer was that we would individually connect more closely with God, with each other and with our community and we would have fun doing it.
We saw this happen on a grand scale i.e. people coming to faith, working together and having fun, bringing their friends and loved ones of all ages to the events and the wider community joining in.
Close on 100 people were sufficiently moved to respond to the message and want to know more about the love of God. How special and encouraging for us as a Parish.
There was something for everyone: Salsa dancing, Dads and Lads with laser shotguns, Big Boxing ring and Computer Racing. A Cinemobile showed 4 films and couples could relax with a Romantic Meal in Crossgar. For teenagers, there was the Urban Assault in Saintfield High School, as well as ACTODUS who were amazing in terms of Christian drama and fun activities.
I'm indebted to so many in the parish for their commitment to the Yes! We Can!! vision. Everyone did what they promised they would do and much, much more. The events were well organized and well attended and the fun was evident to all. Yes! We Can!! was special for all who attended as we relied on the strength of God that Paul talks of in Philippians 4:13.
We know the effects will continue to be felt in the Parish and wider community for a long time to come."
