'Our man in the Vatican'

BBC Northern Ireland is to broadcast an exclusive insight into the life of Co Down-born senior diplomat, Ambassador Francis Campbell, in a new 3 part series, entitled, Our Man In The Vatican, beginning on Wednesday, February 17 on BBC 1 at 10.45pm.

Mr Campbell, who was brought up on a farm outside Rathfriland, Co. Down is the first Roman Catholic since the Reformation to hold the post of British Ambassador to the Holy See and is former Private Secretary to Prime Minister Tony Blair.

He has a BA in Political Science and Scholastic Philosophy from Queen's University, Belfast and MAs in European Integration from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) and in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania (USA).

Mr Campbell became British Ambassador to the Holy See in December 2005. He joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1997.
