Rector swaps collars to boost local trade

The Rector of Willowfield recently swapped his clerical collar for the more traditional variety when he spent a day selling suits as an encouragement to local trade.

Canon David McClay spent a Saturday on the sales floor of local menswear store, Littles, on the Woodstock Road, directly opposite his Church.  It was a return to his roots as before ordination David managed the sales office at Magee's of Donegal.

The initiative attracted local media attention but had a serious side. Willowfield Parish is very much involved in supporting the local community and encourages members of the church to support local small businesses when they can. This was just one way of drawing attention to the variety of services available on the Woodstock Road and surrounding areas.

And the sixty million dollar question, "Did he sell anything?" Indeed the enterprising cleric shifted about a dozen suits and a variety of shirts and ties. A second career waits in the wings!
