An East Belfast church is has launched, 'Keep it Local' to help boost business in the area by encouraging people to shop locally.

The initiative from the Willowfield Parish Community Association will leaflet 8000 homes to encourage them to shop exclusively in East Belfast on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th June 2010.

Willowfield rector, Canon David McClay, worked in the clothing industry as a young man and in February spent a Saturday on the sales floor of Little's Menswear, directly opposite the Church.

"As well as thoroughly enjoying the experience, for us as a congregation, it highlighted  the importance of supporting local business,  My hope is that this new "Keep it Local" initiative will impact this whole community and bring a lot of business back to local shops."

Willowfield Parish is very much involved in supporting the local community and encourages members of the church to support local small businesses when they can.
