Communications prize for Down and Dromore

Willowfield Parish website has won first prize in the Parish Website competition run by the Central Communications Board.

The Columban, parish magazine of St Columba's Knock, has come runner-up in their category as did the Shankill Parish, Lurgan, Uganda 2010 site.

The Willowfield site was designed by parishioner, Pete Scoley and is maintained by the parish administrator, Stephen Mayes.

"We're delighted to win," said Stephen. "The parish is so busy with outreach events that it's a really good tool for keeping people informed. It's our window on the world!"

The competition is independently judged by media professionals and the result was announced at Synod on Saturday 8th May.

The judges said of the Willowfield site, "The simple landing page with its clear information was praised as were the use of thumbnail photos, Sunday service times on all the pages, a clear campaign feature and the pattern of short, concise items with contact details. The fact that pages loaded quickly was also appreciated!"
