Institution of rector of Magherally and Annaclone

Bishop Harold instituted Revd David Palmer as rector of Magherally and Annaclone on Wednesday 30th June 2010. The service was preceded by the rededication of the refurbished rectory.

David came to Northern Ireland from London in 1991. After training at the Church of Ireland Theological College he was ordained in the diocese of Dublin, and served his first curacy in Glenageary. He served a second curacy in Agherton, Portstewart, in the diocese of Connor.

Ten years ago David moved to Ramoan and Culfeightrin parishes in Ballycastle where his wife Lorna taught music in the local secondary schools and was church organist and choir director. His children Abigail and Bethany are now both at university studying Geography and Accountancy respectively and come home for holidays.

The family are very much looking forward to living in Magherally and Annaclone, getting to know the parishioners and of course being in a new diocese! Lorna will be teaching music at The Royal School, Armagh, from September.
