Leading Bible agencies bring united challenge for 2011

Three leading Bible agencies in Northern Ireland - Bible Society, Scripture Union and Wycliffe Bible Translators - today announced plans to stimulate Bible reading across the country.

The E100 Bible Reading Challenge, one of a number of Biblefresh initiatives, is based on 100 carefully selected readings (50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament) to give people a good understanding of God's Story from Genesis to Revelation. The E stands for Essential and the readings range from a few verses to a few chapters.

The E100 Bible Reading Challenge is very flexible and can be adapted to the context of the local church: for individual reading or within the teaching programme:

•    Challenge individuals to develop the habit of spending time with God in Bible reading.

•    Encourage families to read together each week.

•    Discuss in small groups, midweek meetings or home groups.

•    Build up the full picture of the Bible story through weekly sermons.

Resources to support the E100 Bible Reading Challenge will be available in autumn 2010, on-line and in other media. These may include personal planners, sermon notes, reading notes, church posters and discussion guides.
