Pray for the World Cup

Some of us will be wishing that it was over, but take a few moments to join the Archbishop of Cape Town, the Most Revd Thabo Makgoba, in his prayer for the tournament, hosted for the first time by an African nation:
"God bless the 2010 World Cup: bless those who compete, and those who watch, bless those who host, and those who visit, and help all who love the 'the beautiful game' grow in the love you have given us to share."
The tournament runs from 11th June - 11th July in South Africa. Archbishop Makgoba said that the ability of sport to bring people of different races and religions together to build the confidence of young people and to promote social cohesion within South Africa and
the whole human family were among the greatest benefits that could be gained from the
World Cup.
