Sisters make history!

Curate Assistant in Moira Parish, Revd Joanne Megarrell, has just entered the history books with her sister, Lorraine, in becoming the first sisters to be ordained in the Church of Ireland.

Revd Lorraine Cappa, married to Rev Alan Capper, rector of Lisnaskea, was ordained deacon on Tuesday 29th June in St Columba's, Omagh, diocese of Derry, where she will serve as Curate Assistant. Joanne was ordained in 2003 in the diocese of Dromore.

The sisters grew up in Magheralin parish and both have a background in education: Lorraine taught Religious Education in England and then was a Librarian in Enniskillen Collegiate, whilst Joanne taught German and English in Limavady.
