St Columba's Flower Festival inspires

St. Columba's Parish Church, Knock, held a successful Flower Festival from 4-6 June.  As this coincided with the Patronal Festival celebrations the chosen theme was "Celebrating the life of St. Columba".

The Rector of St. Columba's, The Revd John Auchmuty said, "The beautiful flower arrangements designed and created by our Artistic Director, Mrs Barbara Megarry and the members of the Northern Ireland Flower Arrangement Societies offered tremendous inspiration and blessing to those who visited our church during the festival.  Each one of the flower arrangements celebrated an important part of St. Columba's life. However the Flower Festival was more than just a chronological journey through Columba's life. In a very poignant and direct way, it also emphasised that the Spirit of Columba continues today through the ministry of our parish church. It was a source of considerable encouragement and thanksgiving that so many people came to St. Columba's in such favourable weather conditions to enjoy the flower arrangements, music and refreshments.

I wish to thank all those who came and supported our Flower Festival so generously. The total amount of money raised will enable the Select Vestry to replace the very old and inefficient boilers in both the Church Hall and the Curatage during the summer months."
