And they're off!

Seapatrick Youth Pastor, Martin Montgomery, and rector of Tullylish, Revd Arthur Young, have hit the road on their charity cycle ride around the Diocese of Down and Dromore.

Martin and Arthur will photograph every church building in the diocese in use for worship whilst raising money for the Northern Ireland Childrens' Hospice and Seapatrick's 'Save Our Spire' fund. If they are to achieve their aim of completing the ride in a week they'll have to visit about 20 churches a day - quite a pace.

The pair left Tullylish Parish with the blessing of morning worshippers and headed out into the diocese of Dromore. Their first 50 miles brought them, somewhat disconcertingly, in a circle that included Portadown, Craigavon, Lurgan, Magheralin, Moira and Aghalee before they struck out for Newry and the south coast.

The first day's cycling ended in Kilkeel with 94 miles on the clock. Day Two will eventually take them to Downpatrick via the east coast, a little foray into the Mournes and a good chunk of drumlin country in South Down.

And Arthur's comment at the end of Day One? "It's really good to sit in a proper seat!"

Keep it up fellas!
