Former Good Book Shop manager Evelyn thanked for her faithful service

Former manager of the Good Book Shop, Mrs Evelyn Lewis, has been honoured for her 24 years of faithful service at a lunch hosted by the bookshop's Board of Directors.

Also attending were her husband Canon Walter Lewis, staff from Church House, and Evelyn's former colleagues in the Good Book Shop.

Mr Dermot O’Callaghan, vice chair of the Board of Directors, thanked Evelyn for her hard work and diligent, helpful service and said he had often been a satisfied customer over the years.

Bishop Harold presented her with gifts from the directors and staff saying, "I want to thank Evelyn for ploughing a straight furrow all these years and for serving the bookshop very faithfully not only as her job but as her ministry."

Expressing gratitude for the gifts and the lovely lunch, Evelyn said that the bookshop, both as APCK and as the Good Book Shop, had been a very large part of her life for 24 years. As she reflected on those years, she said that it was difficult for any small independent shop to compete with internet sales sites, but urged the parishes of Connor and Down and Dromore dioceses to continue to support the Good Book Shop.

Evelyn paid tribute to her dedicated and hardworking team, and wished the book shop every success for the future.
