New appointment for CREED

An organistion that exists to help churches engage with their local communites has taken an exciting new step in its development. CREED has recently appointed Dr Simon Grattan as acting Chief Executive.

CREED will be familiar to many people in the Church of Ireland. It was formed in 2006 and exists to serve and help churches to identify a vision for their ministry and outreach to the local community. Whilst it has had its roots in the Church of Ireland it has expanded to offer it services to all churches.

A spokesperson for CREED talked about the hopes they have for the future. "We exist as an organisation because we believe that the local church has something good and constructive to offer its local community. We believe in serving the local church so that it can serve its local community". He continued, "The appointment of Simon Grattan, with his strong business background, is an exciting development for us as an organisation".

Not only has Simon a business background, he also has an active commitment to his local church. After graduating from Queens University in 2000 with a degree in Physics with Materials Science he worked with Randox as a research physicist. Following the completion of his Phd he founded Sengenia Ltd. This has developed into an award winning company with a wide range of customers.

It is as a result of his background in business planning and strategic development that Simon has been engaged by CREED. He will help with planning the next steps and future direction for the organisation. He is also a local preacher in the Methodist Church, based in Craigmore. He is married to Carole and has twin sons.

Simon commented 'I'm delighted to have this opportunity to work alongside those who have had the vision and desire for CREED to meet a clear need in our churches and community. I'm also really looking forward to getting to meet both the volunteers, without whom CREED simply can't function, and the various projects that are underway". He continued "CREED is at an important stage of growth. We are excited about where we can take this and how we can partner with others who share a similar vision".
