Boring Wells begins to bore another well

The ministry of Boring Wells is to create opportunities for people, who are far from church as we know it, to experience that sense of community that we have been used to in church. In Boring Wells we call that boring a well.

The idea is based on Genesis 26 when Isaac was challenged by God to re-open the wells that his father Abraham had dug. A well in a desert place quickly becomes a source of life and community. In November a team from Boring Wells started a project called WOW - the beginnings of a worship and discipleship experience for children with learning difficulties. The team is led by Ruth McCartney who is a Speech and Language Therapist and who works in Glenveagh Special School.

A number of the team went to Belfast Bible College and completed a course on working with children with learning difficulties. The first WOW was in November and they all had a great time. This ministry is very dependent on one-on-one supervision and the assistance of parents and professionals.  As I looked at the pictures and heard the stories all I can say is WOW!
