Lifeline is there to help over the holidays

Lifeline is the Northern Ireland crisis response helpline service for people who are experiencing distress or despair. They provide counsellors 24 hours a day, seven days a week in confidence so if you are in despair or distress this Christmas and New Year, please phone Lifeline on Freephone 0808 808 8000.

Lifeline counsellors are experienced in working with trauma, suicide, self-harm, abuse, depression and anxiety and you will receive immediate help on the phone. Should you need further support they can provide a face-to-face counselling appointment or complementary therapy locally within seven days.

In the 2008 - 2009 financial year, Lifeline responded to more than 78,000 crisis calls, providing 40,000 face to face counselling sessions. What makes their service unique is there is no waiting list. They promise to provide focused treatment options to you within seven days of referral – a promise they have consistently honoured! Lifeline also provides support and guidance to families and carers, concerned friends, professionals, teachers, youth workers, clergy and communities.
