In his recent interview to the BBC Sir Donald Murray invited the Dean of Belfast, the Very Revd Dr Houston McKelvey, to explain his role in the redundancy of the post of Director of Music.

The Board of Belfast Cathedral would like to confirm that, at his express request, the Dean did not participate in the financial review or decision making process which led to the redundancy. Both the review and the proposed redundancy are matters which fall exclusively within the powers and duties of the Board.
