Death of Canon Harold Lowry

Canon Harold Lowry entered into glory on Friday last, at 91 years of age and his funeral was on Monday 7 February at 12.30pm in St Gall's, Carnalea.

From 1948 to 1975 he ministered in the Diocese of Down and Dromore, and is perhaps remembered most for his ministry in Willowfield as rector.  We send our sympathy to his widow, Laurie, and his family, but particularly to his son, Stephen who is Dean of Dromore.

The bishop writes: 'Harold is one of the godliest people I have ever met. When I

asked him what he spent most of his time doing in his retirement, he said: 'Do

you really want to know?', and when I pushed him, the answer was 'Praying'. The

thing was that, with Harold, you knew it was true. He was a humble and kind gentleman, with the Gospel at the centre of his life - in words and deeds, and he was loved by all.

Harold literally slipped into eternity on Friday - absent from the body, present with the Lord. We were privileged to know him'.
